Fusion Sport has announced the sale of our timing gate system, Smartspeed, to VALD, a human measurement technology company. Read the full VALD press release here.
Smartspeed was launched in 2004 as the world’s first wireless timing gate system and quickly became the industry-standard used across the globe. Its precision, reliability, and flexibility made it popular with coaches, performance teams, and is used in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL) combines.
Smartspeed as its associated Smartjump vertical jump testing system will join VALD’s suite of nine products, including the NordBord Hamstring Testing System, ForceDecks Dual Force Plate System, and ForceFrame Strength Testing System, among others.
Fusion Sport co-founder and chief executive officer Dr. Markus Deutsch says the move will allow the company to focus its efforts on the Smartabase human performance platform, which is seeing explosive growth right now.
“In recent years, much of our company’s success and market advancement has come from our work with Smartabase,” noted Deutsch. “We are thrilled with the progress we’ve made, are proud to be a market leader, and look forward to channeling our focus on future growth areas with Smartabase,” Deutsch said.
Fusion Sport has realized a 60% average revenue growth year-over-year. All signs point to this trend continuing through 2022 with notable wins in the pro sports and military markets including the Jacksonville Jaguars, LA Kings, Netherlands Olympic Committee, AS Monaco, Australian Special Forces, SOCOM, and USAF Air Combat Command.
To help fuel growth in the military market, Fusion Sport recently welcomed Major General (rtd) Jeff Sengelman to the company’s Board of Directors. Sengelman began serving as Chairman Elect in August and has had an immediate impact on the company’s growth and direction. The addition of Sengelman to the board represents the company’s commitment to serving military and government organizations looking to improve capabilities by optimizing human performance.
Military organizations in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia have already partnered with Fusion Sport to support various human performance initiatives. For existing and prospective clients, Sengelman’s addition to the board couldn’t come at a better time. As the military expands its efforts to implement a holistic approach to health and fitness, Sengelman’s track record and knack for spurring bold change on a massive scale will prove invaluable.
