BROOMFIELD, Colo. – (November 1, 2022) Smartabase, an established global leader in tracking, analyzing, and optimizing human performance, today announced it has been granted Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 certification. This is regarded as a gold standard for security accreditation, and Smartabase is one of the few companies in its industry to have achieved it.
Created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC 2 Type 2 is an internal controls report that evaluates how a company safeguards customer data and how well those controls are operating. Companies that use cloud service providers utilize SOC 2 reports to assess and address the risks associated with third-party technology services. These reports are issued by independent third-party auditors and cover the trust services principles (TSP) of security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
“We are delighted to receive SOC 2 Type 2 certification,” said Dr. Markus Deutsch, Fusion Sport’s CEO and co-founder. “This gives current and future clients in the military and elite sport peace of mind that their sensitive and private data is being kept safe and secure at all times in Smartabase and shows our continual commitment to information security.”
This latest certification is further evidence that Smartabase, the most flexible human performance optimization (HPO) platform on the market, is secure by design and offers rigorous, military-grade data protection. In addition to receiving SOC 2 Type 2 accreditation, Smartabase is also ISO/IEC 27001:2013, Health Data Host (HDH), and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certified, HIPAA, GDPR, and PIPEDA compliant, and meets Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 5 (IL5) requirements. “We take our customers’ data privacy very seriously,” Deutsch said. “Every step of the Smartabase development process creates an environment in which athlete and service member information remains secure, encrypted, and protected.”
To receive the SOC 2 Type 2 certification – which is the benchmark for information security – Smartabase underwent a long and rigorous audit by a third-party organization. The successful outcome of this process validates their in-depth approach to implementing effective data security and privacy controls and shows that these have been tested to work to a high standard. This is one of the reasons elite professional, national, and college sports teams worldwide and military organizations in the United States, Australia, and Canada such as USSOCOM, Australian Defence, and CANSOF trust Smartabase to safeguard their performance, medical, and wellness data.
